Truth versus Fiction

Stand-up comedy

In 2014, I took two comedy classes in Central Square. Every week my classmates told me I should tell stories and forget about stand-up. Apparently, I wasn't following the form.

The rule in stand-up

My classmates were in awe at my first homework assignment. They couldn't believe all the crazy adventures I'd had  on vacation. It was obvious they thought it was all true.  I hadn't realized that the humor needs to be based on actual events—no embellishment.

I have changed as many identifying features as I could without deleting the story itself in order to protect the innocent (as well as the guilty).

The fiction part

I have chosen Paris as the backdrop for these stories. The details of the characters' lives are also fictitious. The humor, on the other hand, is based on real-life happenings..
